Munsungan Lake Salmon Awaken in June

The Maine Sportsman, June 2004

Munsungan Brookies                  by Bob Cram

The same lures and flies that attract salmon also draw Munsungan brook trout.  Working the mouths of inlet brooks and seeps can be very productive for brookies, especially in the later evening hours.  Methods for finding brook trout include paying attention to such details as slight disturbances in the water, especially in the shallows, and watching for the first signs of newly hatched flies coming off the water.

Often, a fisherman will start off fishing for brookies and suddenly find himself in the middle of feeding salmon, not an unwelcome surprise.  But Munsungan is full of surprises, not to mention trout, togue and salmon, all of which goes to explain why this remote lake has become so popular in recent years.
